Comfortable and relaxed cruising in a beautiful classic from the 1970s. That is perfectly possible with this stylish Mercedes-Benz SL 450 from 1978. The R107 series was produced in very large numbers from 1971 to 1989 and is therefore a very well-known and reliable classic car. This car was originally delivered in America (California) and came to the Netherlands in 2008. In the Netherlands, the car has only had 1 owner and the car is… visibly well maintained.
Both the paint and the chrome are in near mint condition. The car has been completely repainted and therefore the paint is really in perfect condition. The body parts fit together very nicely and the doors close properly and well. You can of course expect that from this solid German classic. The existing hardtop is also still in very good condition. The beautiful Lorinzer alloy wheels look very nice and fit this car perfectly.
The interior is also still in very good condition. The seat covers are almost new and are comfortable. The dashboard is also still in good condition and all instruments work properly. The stylish dark blue interior is a beautiful combination with the silver-colored body. The wooden steering wheel and wooden gear knob give the interior an extra class.
Driving is a pleasure in this classic convertible. The automatic transmission shifts well and the engine runs quietly and smoothly. That is exactly what this wonderful 8-cylinder belongs to. The steering (without play) is also very nice and feels good. The car brakes properly and it is therefore a car that feels very familiar and solid. There is also a windshield for extra comfort.

La Mercedes-Benz 190SL est présentée en 1954 au salon de New York. La marque allemande souhaite conquérir une part du marché florissant des roadsters outre-Atlantique.
La nouvelle génération de SL W113 remplace deux modèles : la 190SL et la 300SL. Son style est léger et dynamique. Le roadster SL s’impose comme un modèle clé dans la gamme Mercedes.
La série 107 relève le défi de remplacer la très réussie SL Pagode lancée en 1963. À son lancement en 1971, la SL R107 n’est mue que par des motorisations V8, 3.5 pour l’Europe mais déjà 4.5 pour l’Amérique du Nord. La voiture adoptera une variante à moteur 6 cylindres pour les marchés européens en 1974, et fera évoluer ses moteurs V8 pour les rendre moins gloutons.
Mercedes décide de prolonger sa carrière en présentant un face-lift
et de nouvelles motorisations au salon de Francfort
1985. Cette ultime évolution, couronné par la version
560SL développée pour le marché nord-américain, va
permettre à la série 107 de finir sa carrière en apothéose. Après
18 ans de carrière, la relève arrive au salon de Genève 1989 sous les
traits de la nouvelle SL R129.
