The early 2000s marked an important new chapter for Aston Martin. Following the success of the DB7, the British marque entered a period of renewed ambition, combining its traditional craftsmanship and understated elegance with more modern engineering and performance.

The original V12 Vanquish was produced at Aston Martin’s historic Newport Pagnell factory from 2001, with the standard 460 bhp model remaining in production until the arrival of the Vanquish S in late 2004 before production ended in 2007.

According to Aston Martin, just 1,489 examples of the original Vanquish were hand-built, making it a relatively rare model even by Aston Martin standards.

Production was remarkably labour-intensive: Aston Martin states that each Vanquish took around eight weeks to build.

For the 2004 Model Year, the Vanquish was powered by an all-alloy 5,935 cc, 48-valve V12, producing 460 bhp and 542 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque. Power was sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission operated by an electro-hydraulic paddle-shift system. Maximum speed was quoted at 306 km/h (190 mph), with 0–100 km/h achieved in approximately 5.0 seconds.

The 2004 model also received important upgrades, including new 19-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels, improved seating and Brembo ventilated and grooved brakes measuring 355 mm at the front and 330 mm at the rear, together with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.

Its appearance in the 2002 James Bond film Die Another Day further cemented its status as one of the most iconic Aston Martins of its generation.



ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE

This Aston Martin V12 Vanquish represents a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally low-mileage example with a particularly interesting and well-documented history.

First registered on 15 March 2004, the car was originally commissioned for Mr. Carlo Orazio Buora, as confirmed by the original Aston Martin sill plaque, which remains in place and is inscribed:
“Handbuilt in England for Mr. Carlo Buora”

Carlo Orazio Buora was one of Italy’s most prominent business executives of the period. Born in Milan on 26 May 1946, his date of birth corresponds with the identity of the original owner documented for this Vanquish.

Buora joined Pirelli in the early 1990s and became one of the principal collaborators of Marco Tronchetti Provera.

In 2004, when this Vanquish was first registered, he was Managing Director of Pirelli & C., placing him among the leading figures of Italian industry.

Mr Buora was resident in Milan and retained ownership of the Vanquish until 2015. The car was exported from Italy on 2 February 2015.

The original dealer was Royal Cars Srl, the Aston Martin dealer responsible for supplying the car when new.

The original Aston Martin warranty booklet is still present.

The accompanying file provides a desirable detailed record of servicing carried out in Italy by official Aston Martin centres.

The recorded mileage is as follows:

These records provide a remarkably consistent picture of a car that was used sparingly and maintained within the Aston Martin network.

Following its export from Italy, the service history records a January 2016 service at Nicholas Mee & Co., the renowned independent Aston Martin specialist in London. At the time, the car had covered 14,487 Km.

The Vanquish was subsequently re-registered in Germany on 22 February 2016 to Mr Hans Schmidtke.

In approximately 2019 the Vanquish passed to a Dutch collector, where it formed part of a private collection and was primarily kept on display rather than regularly driven.

Over roughly the past decade, it has covered less than 1,000 km, and today shows approximately 15,000 km from new.

The specification is particularly striking, combining British Racing Green with a beautifully preserved Saddle Tan leather interior.

Far richer than a conventional beige, the interior has a distinctive warm brown-beige tone with subtle cognac undertones, giving the cabin a deep and luxurious character.

This example is also equipped with the manual mechanical gearbox, making it an especially desirable specification for enthusiasts and collectors.

A curious detail concerns its tyres. The Vanquish is currently fitted with Pirelli 19-inch tyres, dating from 2014, rather than the standard Yokohama tyres originally developed specifically for the Vanquish. The tyres will of course be replaced as a matter of age and safety, but their presence is an intriguing coincidence given the car’s documented connection with its first owner, Carlo Buora, and his senior position at Pirelli.



CONDITION EXTERIOR

The exterior of this 2004 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish presents extremely well and reflects the car’s exceptionally limited use.

Finished in British Racing Green, the bodywork retains a deep, glossy appearance, with the colour beautifully highlighting the Vanquish’s sculpted lines and muscular proportions.

The front and rear light units appear clear and in very good condition, and the exterior trim, badges and detailing remain sharp throughout. The 19-inch alloy wheels also present very well and complement the overall condition of the car.

Overall, the exterior gives the impression of a carefully preserved, low-mileage example, with a level of presentation entirely consistent with a car that has spent much of the past decade as part of a private collection and largely on display.



CONDITION INTERIOR

The interior of this 2004 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish is especially striking, combining a rich warm tan leather with deep green leather across the dashboard, upper door sections and steering wheel, complemented by matching green carpeting.

The Saddle tan leather has a warm brown-cognac tone, and extends across the seats, door panels, centre armrest and transmission tunnel.

Contrasting aluminium trim on the centre console, door pulls and cabin details adds a more technical character, while the white-faced instrumentation remains one of the most distinctive features of the early Vanquish.

Condition throughout appears exceptionally well preserved, consistent with the car’s very low mileage.

The leather retains a smooth, supple appearance, with just light natural creasing visible on the seats and bolsters rather than significant wear.

The dashboard, door cards and centre console present cleanly, while the carpets and lower trim also appear remarkably fresh.

The steering wheel and driver controls show only modest signs of use, and the aluminium surfaces remain crisp and well presented.
