Le 17 Avril 1964, FORD, second constructeur mondial, présente à la foire mondiale de New York, sa Mustang. Sa construction est initialement basée sur la plateforme de la Ford Falcon. Elle est surnommée le “modèle 1964,5” (1964 et demi) par ses fans.
Depuis le Modèle A, c’est le lancement le plus réussi de l’histoire de l’automobile. Aussi, la Ford Mustang a subi de nombreuses transformations jusqu’à son modèle actuel, le cinquième de sa génération.
